Growing Information

Growing Evergreen White Bunching Scallion

‘Evergreen White Bunching’ is an heirloom scallion prized for its long, slender white stalks, dependable production, and classic green-onion flavor. Plants grow in clusters and do not form traditional bulbs, making them ideal for repeated bunching-onion harvests.

Start ‘Evergreen White Bunching’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants 2 to 6 inches apart. Grow in full sun. This variety is well suited to containers and can be planted in spring for summer use or in fall for overwintering.

Ready to harvest in about 65 days, pull or cut stalks once they reach the size you prefer.

Fresh, mild, and versatile, ‘Evergreen White Bunching’ is excellent for salads, stir-fries, garnishes, soups, and everyday cooking.

These are great

I spread a bunch of the seeds on top of dirt in a 10 gallon pot. I put another 1/4" of dirt on top of them, watered them in, and they went crazy. I had previously put bone meal and blood meal in the dirt. I planted them in March, and am in still harvesting in July. I live in a very hot environment (south Texas,) and they actually survived our weeks of 100+ degree weather. So, these are great if you want onions where it is too hot to grow regular, large onions.
