Clemson Spineless Heirloom Okra
Growing Clemson Spineless Heirloom Okra
‘Clemson Spineless’ is an award-winning heirloom okra and 1939 All-America Selections Winner prized for its easy picking, dependable yields, and classic Southern flavor. Plants produce straight, grooved, light green pods without the troublesome spines found on some older varieties, and the flowers are edible as well.
Start ‘Clemson Spineless’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about 1 inch deep and space plants about 12 inches apart. Grow in full sun. This variety offers excellent heat and drought tolerance.
Ready to harvest in about 56 days, pick pods regularly while they are young and tender for the best texture and continued production.
Classic, tender, and productive, ‘Clemson Spineless’ is excellent for fresh cooking, frying, gumbo, pickling, and other Southern favorites.HeirloomÂ
