Many efforts, no success with germination.

I tried various ways to germinate seeds: refrigeration, soak in water til seeds sank, covering containers to maintain moisture, provide light, press seeds to have contact with soil. Of 100 seeds, I have 3 plants. What can I do better? I want to try again.
