Gypsy Hybrid Broccoli
Growing Gypsy Hybrid Broccoli
‘Gypsy’ is a vigorous hybrid broccoli prized for its exceptional heat tolerance, adaptability, and uniform, high-quality heads. Plants produce clean, dome-shaped crowns with dependable performance across changing seasonal conditions, giving gardeners a wider growing window than many broccoli varieties.
Start ‘Gypsy’ indoors or sow directly in the garden about ¼ inch deep. Space plants 1 to 2 feet apart and grow in full sun. Plants typically reach 30 to 36 inches tall and perform best in fertile, well-drained soil with consistent moisture. This variety also offers resistance to downy mildew.
Ready to harvest in about 60 days, cut the 6-inch heads once they are firm, well formed, and the beads are still tight. ‘Gypsy’ performs especially well in warm summer conditions while also adapting nicely to cooler fall weather.
Tender, flavorful, and versatile, ‘Gypsy’ is excellent for bunching, crown cuts, fresh cooking, steaming, roasting, and everyday broccoli dishes.
