Growing Information

Growing Prizm Hybrid Kale

‘Prizm’ is an award-winning hybrid kale and 2016 All-America Selections Winner prized for its compact growth, tightly ruffled leaves, and distinctive nutty flavor. Short, tender foliage offers excellent eating quality while remaining substantial enough to hold up beautifully when cooked.

Start ‘Prizm’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants 8 to 12 inches apart. Grow in full sun to partial shade. Its compact growth habit makes this variety especially well suited to containers and smaller gardens.

Ready to harvest in about 55 days, pick leaves at the size you prefer, choosing younger growth for an especially tender harvest.

Tender, nutty, and versatile, ‘Prizm’ is excellent for salads, fresh eating, sautéing, soups, and everyday cooking.

Easy to grow, tasty kale

I've grown Prism kale for about 5 years or so and I have had wonderful results. I live in zone 7a so I garden 10 months out of the year. I get kale for about 9 months of that time. The leaves have a good taste and the plant is tolerant of crowding.
