Green Salad Bowl Heirloom Lettuce
Growing Green Salad Bowl Heirloom Lettuce
‘Green Salad Bowl’ is an award-winning heirloom lettuce and 1952 All-America Selections Winner prized for its crisp texture, sweet flavor, and attractive loose rosettes. Wavy, rounded mid-green leaves remain tender and flavorful while the non-heading plants offer excellent resistance to bolting.
Start ‘Green Salad Bowl’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ⅛ inch deep and space plants 4 to 16 inches apart. Grow in full sun to partial shade. This cold-tolerant variety is also well suited to containers.
Ready to harvest in about 44 days, pick leaves individually at the size you prefer, choosing younger growth for an especially tender harvest.
Sweet, crisp, and tender, ‘Green Salad Bowl’ is excellent for fresh eating, salads, sandwiches, and mixed greens.
