Growing Information

Growing Darkibor Hybrid Kale

‘Darkibor’ is a hybrid kale prized for its exceptionally dark color, heavily curled leaves, and rich flavor. Upright plants produce crunchy, deeply crinkled foliage and offer excellent resistance to heat and bolting, making this variety especially dependable in regions with mild winters.

Start ‘Darkibor’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ½ inch deep and space plants 12 to 18 inches apart. Grow in partial shade. This cold-tolerant variety is also well suited to containers.

Ready to harvest in about 60 days, pick leaves at the size you prefer, choosing younger growth for the most tender texture. Regular harvesting allows plants to continue producing fresh leaves.

Rich, crisp, and versatile, ‘Darkibor’ is excellent for fresh eating, salads, sautéing, soups, and everyday cooking.
