BoPak Pak Choi Hybrid
Growing BoPak Pak Choi Hybrid
‘BoPak’ Pak Choi Hybrid is a compact, upright Asian green and 2015 All-America Selections Winner, notable as the first Asian green to receive the award. It produces glossy green leaves with crisp white stems and a mild, pleasant flavor that falls somewhere between cabbage and chard. Its tidy growth habit makes it especially useful for raised beds, small gardens, and patio containers.
Start ‘BoPak’ indoors about ¼ inch deep. Space plants about 10 inches apart and grow in full sun to partial shade. Plants reach about 14 inches tall and produce heads measuring roughly 4 by 8 inches and weighing 1½ to 2 pounds. This variety handles warmer conditions better than many similar greens, and succession planting every two weeks can help extend the harvest.
Ready to harvest in about 42 days, pick the leaves and stalks once they reach your preferred size and texture. Younger growth will be especially tender, while mature plants develop crisp, substantial stems.
Mild, crunchy, and versatile, ‘BoPak’ is excellent for stir-fries, salads, soups, braising, and everyday cooking.
