Sunshine Kabocha Hybrid Squash
Growing Sunshine Kabocha Hybrid Squash
‘Sunshine Kabocha’ is an award-winning hybrid winter squash and 2004 All-America Selections Winner prized for its vivid orange-red rind and exceptionally sweet flesh. Bright orange interiors are smooth, tender, nutty, and stringless, offering outstanding eating quality when properly cured.
Start ‘Sunshine Kabocha’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ½ to 1 inch deep, space plants about 6 feet apart, and grow in full sun. This heat-tolerant variety develops vigorous vines.
Ready to harvest in about 95 days, pick fruits once fully mature and cure them properly to develop their sweetest flavor.
Sweet, smooth, and nutty, ‘Sunshine Kabocha’ is excellent for baking, mashing, pies, everyday cooking, and storage.
