Growing Tronchuda Kale
Also called "Portuguese." Its extreme heat tolerance – most of any kale – permits both earlier and later harvests of its large, paddle-shaped, flat, rounded, blue-green leaves. Similar in appearance to collards, but larger, loose-headed and with very noticeable white veins. Its mild sweet flavor is much like cabbage. Wonderful when added to soups and stews, but can also be sautéed or braised.
