Growing Information

Growing Zephyr Hybrid Summer Squash

‘Zephyr’ is a hybrid summer squash prized for its eye-catching color and nutty flavor. Crookneck fruits develop yellow skin with faint white striping and distinctive light lime-green blossom ends, creating an especially attractive harvest.

Start ‘Zephyr’ indoors for transplanting and grow in full sun with plenty of room between plants and rows. This heat-tolerant variety develops large, open plants that are highly productive and easy to harvest.

Ready to harvest in about 54 days, pick fruits young for the best firm texture and nutty flavor.

Colorful, tender, and distinctive, ‘Zephyr’ is excellent for sautéing, grilling, roasting, everyday cooking, and storage.

Fast producer

The earliest producer of any Zuciciney-type squash, Used the same as any zucchini Always the first thing to mature in the garden. Maybe a little better flavor, Might just be the old-time looking color, But think it taste better goon texture

Taste and performance!

We love this squash! More flavor than regular yellow summer squash. Very attractive and seems to extra disease resistant. Yes, it gets beaten down eventually like all the other summer squashes, but it goes almost throughout the whole summer. We are basing this on 4 years of growing this variety. Very productive.
