Growing Information

Growing Queen Mix Cleome

‘Queen Mix’ is an open-pollinated cleome blend prized for its airy foliage, tall garden presence, and long-lasting summer color. Large flower clusters appear in soft shades of lavender, rose, white, and blush above feathery foliage, creating an elegant display throughout the season.

Surface sow ‘Queen Mix’ seeds and space plants 18 to 24 inches apart. Grow in full sun. Germination typically takes 10 to 21 days. This heat-tolerant variety performs especially well during warm summer conditions.

Ready to bloom in about 90 days, enjoy the flowers as they open and reach their best display stage. Tall plants provide beautiful height and structure through an extended flowering season.

Graceful, heat tolerant, and long blooming, ‘Queen Mix’ is an excellent choice for hedges, back borders, mass plantings, and ornamental beds.

Many efforts, no success with germination.

I tried various ways to germinate seeds: refrigeration, soak in water til seeds sank, covering containers to maintain moisture, provide light, press seeds to have contact with soil. Of 100 seeds, I have 3 plants. What can I do better? I want to try again.
