Growing Information

Growing Chef's™ Choice Orange Hybrid Beefsteak Tomato

‘Chef’s™ Choice Orange’ is an award-winning hybrid tomato and 2014 All-America Selections Winner prized for its glowing orange color and old-fashioned tomato flavor. Large beefsteak-style fruits were bred from ‘Amana Orange’ to combine heirloom-like flavor with improved earliness, uniformity, and disease resistance.

Start ‘Chef’s™ Choice Orange’ indoors for transplanting, then move seedlings outdoors after the danger of frost has passed and the weather has warmed. Grow in full sun with consistent moisture and appropriate support.

Harvest the fruits once they reach full size and develop their brilliant orange mature color.

Bright, flavorful, and versatile, ‘Chef’s™ Choice Orange’ is excellent for salads and sauces, with color that remains attractive even after cooking.

Grew as a standard red small tomato.

All my Chef Choice tomatoes this year did not grow as expected. The Yellow, Black, and Orange all grew as random red tomatoes.

Poor - Poor Germination - Seeds n Succh you should do better....

This seed for 2026 has had maybe 15% germination. Followed same practice as my other tomato seeds which are growing just fine.

Seeds' N Such used to provide a great product - but not sure this is the source I will use another year.

Great producers

Disease resistant, lots of tomatoes per plant. Thicker meatier tomato. Good for thicker sauces and colorful dishes. One of my favorite tomatoes to grow

Orange Glory

These orange wonders are crack resistant, meaty and thin-skinned. They are large and great for sandwiches, and canning. They germinate easily and got great reviews from my family.
