Growing Yellow Granex (Vidalia) Hybrid Onion

‘Yellow Granex’ is a hybrid onion prized for its exceptionally sweet flavor and large, flattened bulbs. Famous as the onion type associated with Vidalia production, its light yellow skins surround mild, sweet flesh that is especially enjoyable fresh.

Start ‘Yellow Granex’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants 2 to 6 inches apart. Grow in full sun. This cold-tolerant variety is also well suited to containers.

Ready to harvest in about 160 days, lift bulbs once they have reached full size and maturity and cure them according to their intended use.

Exceptionally sweet and mild, ‘Yellow Granex’ is excellent for fresh slicing, salads, sandwiches, grilling, roasting, and everyday cooking.
