White Dutch Clover
Growing White Dutch Clover
‘White Dutch’ is an open-pollinated perennial clover prized for its low-growing habit, nitrogen-fixing ability, and wide range of landscape uses. Plants reach only about 8 inches tall, forming a useful living ground cover while producing white blooms that attract beneficial insects.
Plant ‘White Dutch’ seeds about ¼ inch deep by broadcasting or spacing plants roughly 2 to 4 inches apart. Germination typically takes 7 to 14 days. Sow approximately 2 ounces per 500 square feet. This cold-tolerant variety can be used as either a spring or fall cover crop.
Allow plants to establish into a dense stand before managing them according to their intended use as lawn cover, forage, erosion control, or green manure.
Low growing, hardy, and soil building, ‘White Dutch’ is an excellent choice for cover cropping, lawns, erosion control, forage, green manure, and pollinator-friendly plantings.
