An ages-old, classic heirloom variety that has been around for over 100 years! Popular amongst gardeners in the Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Rich in Vitamin A, medium green long, triangular-shaped, leaves are ideal for baby salad greens. Rather sharp flavor, slow to bolt and reliable. Performs well as a cut-and-come-again type, where leaves can be harvested and allowed to re-grow again and again. Vigorous, compact plants form loose, upright heads that are quite heat tolerant. Widely adaptable. Looseleaf type.

This less often seen variety I'm interested in trying in my locale. I also have several chickens which love greens, and if the flavor isn't appealing to us, the birds will have special treats.
