Growing Information

Growing Tasty King Japanese Hybrid Burpless Cucumber

‘Tasty King Japanese’ is a high-yielding hybrid cucumber prized for its exceptional flavor, crisp texture, and long, slender fruits. Japanese-bred cucumbers develop dark green, thin skin and tender flesh with a mild, sweet flavor. Completely burpless and consistently crunchy, this variety performs well in both the garden and greenhouse.

Sow ‘Tasty King Japanese’ directly in the garden about ½ inch deep. Space plants about 6 inches apart and grow in full sun. This heat-tolerant variety is also noted for strong disease resistance and performs best when supported on a trellis or other sturdy structure.

Ready to harvest in about 62 days, begin picking the fruits once they reach a usable size while they are still firm, crisp, and tender. Harvest regularly to encourage continued production and maintain the best texture and flavor.

Sweet, crisp, and refreshing, ‘Tasty King Japanese’ is excellent for fresh eating, slicing, salads, sandwiches, and snacking.
