Stringless Blue Lake S-7 Pole Bean
Growing Stringless Blue Lake S-7 Pole Bean
‘Stringless Blue Lake S-7’ is a vigorous pole bean and 2003 All-America Selections Winner prized for its completely stringless pods, rich ‘Blue Lake’ flavor, and heavy yields. Developed as an improvement on ‘Blue Lake FM-1,’ this variety produces tender green pods that extend away from the vines, making them easier to spot and harvest.
Sow ‘Stringless Blue Lake S-7’ directly in the garden about 1 inch deep after the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed. Space plants about 2 inches apart and grow in full sun. Vines typically reach about 7 feet tall and require a trellis, fence, or other sturdy support.
Ready to harvest in about 60 days, begin picking the 6- to 6½-inch pods while they are still young, firm, and tender. Harvest regularly to encourage continued production and maintain the best texture and flavor.
Tender, stringless, and flavorful, ‘Stringless Blue Lake S-7’ is excellent for fresh eating, cooking, canning, and freezing.
