Flash Hybrid Collard
Growing Flash Hybrid Collard
‘Flash’ is a vigorous hybrid collard prized for its high yields, smooth dark green leaves, and excellent regrowth after cutting. The broad leaves have a mild, sweet flavor that becomes even better after a light frost, while the plants are very slow to bolt for a longer harvest window.
Sow ‘Flash’ directly in the garden about ½ inch deep. Space plants 12 to 18 inches apart in rows 18 to 36 inches apart and grow in full sun. This cold-tolerant variety is well suited to repeated harvests throughout the season.
Ready to harvest in about 55 days, pick leaves at your preferred size, choosing younger growth for the most tender texture. Plants regrow quickly after cutting, making ‘Flash’ an excellent choice for multiple harvests.
Mild, sweet, and productive, ‘Flash’ is especially well suited for sautéing, braising, soups, and everyday cooking.
