Growing Information

Growing Stringless Blue Lake S-7 Pole Bean

‘Stringless Blue Lake S-7’ Pole Bean is a 2003 AAS Winner developed as a completely stringless improvement on ‘Blue Lake FM-1,’ while keeping the same rich, distinctive bean flavor. Vigorous vines produce heavy yields of tender pods that extend away from the plant, making them easier to see and harvest.

Sow ‘Stringless Blue Lake S-7’ directly in the garden after the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed. The vigorous pole vines require a trellis, fence, or other sturdy support and produce relatively little foliage around the developing pods.

Harvest the beans while the pods are young, firm, and tender for the best texture and flavor. Pick regularly as the crop matures to encourage continued production and keep the pods at peak quality.

‘Stringless Blue Lake S-7’ is especially well suited for canning and is also excellent for fresh eating, cooking, and freezing.
