Savoy Perfection Heirloom Cabbage
Growing Savoy Perfection Heirloom Cabbage
‘Savoy Perfection’ is a classic heirloom cabbage known for its beautifully crinkled leaves, substantial size, and rich garden flavor. It produces large, round heads with deeply savoyed blue-green leaves, typically weighing 6 to 8 pounds and measuring about 6 to 8 inches across. The plants also produce plenty of flavorful outer leaves, and their good heat tolerance makes them a dependable choice for a range of growing conditions.
Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants 12 to 24 inches apart, giving them plenty of room to develop their broad outer leaves. Germination typically takes 5 to 10 days. This cold-tolerant variety performs well in cool-season gardens while also offering better heat tolerance than many cabbages.
Ready to harvest in about 92 days, the heads can be picked once they feel firm and have reached the desired size.
Tender, flavorful, and versatile, ‘Savoy Perfection’ is excellent for fresh eating, soups, sautés, stuffed cabbage, everyday cooking, and storage.
