Ruby Queen Beet
Growing Ruby Queen Beet
‘Ruby Queen’ Beet is a 1957 AAS Winner known for its sweet flavor, uniform shape, and deep red interior with no visible streaking. The smooth, globe-shaped roots have small tap roots and are topped by short, dark green foliage.
Sow ‘Ruby Queen’ directly in the garden during the cooler temperatures of spring or fall. Plant in loose, well-drained soil and keep the seedbed consistently moist while seedlings establish. Thin plants as they grow to give the roots enough room to develop evenly.
Harvest the roots once they reach the desired size while they are still firm, smooth, and tender. Their uniform shape and solid interior make them especially useful when you want consistent slices or whole beets for preserving.
‘Ruby Queen’ beets are especially well suited for canning, pickling, bunching, roasting, and fresh cooking.
