Cheddar Hybrid Cauliflower
Growing Cheddar Hybrid Cauliflower
‘Cheddar’ is a vibrant hybrid cauliflower prized for its eye-catching orange color and large, dome-shaped heads. Its rich cheddar-like color becomes even deeper when cooked, making it a standout on fresh vegetable trays and at the dinner table. The heads are naturally self-blanching, so no tying is needed, and the variety performs especially well for fall harvests.
Start ‘Cheddar’ seeds indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep, space plants 18 to 24 inches apart, and grow in full sun to partial shade. This cold-tolerant variety is well suited to cool-season growing.
Ready to harvest in about 68 days, the heads can be picked once the curds are firm, compact, and fully developed.
Colorful, tender, and versatile, ‘Cheddar’ is excellent for fresh eating, roasting, steaming, and everyday cooking.
