2019 AAS Winner. Perhaps the best resistance to the dreaded Late Blight yet! This award winner is a sister to blight-resistant but determinate ‘Mountain Merit’, but new ‘Mountain Rouge’ is indeterminate and more productive over a longer season. Fruits are a reddish-pink, beefsteak size with a flavor that’s the perfect balance of acid and sugar. ‘Mountain Rouge’ is softer, with the full-bodied sweet-acid balance that heirloom ‘Brandywine’ is revered for, while ‘Mountain Merit’ has a more acidic, less complex flavor. Try both and choose your favorite!

Every year tomato

Every year I grow 5-6 hybrids, and 1-2 heirlooms. How many determinates and indeterminates vary. I measure, assess, survey and evaluate every year and include my neighbors and my kids. That means from year to year i grow 6-8 varieties and out of those there is usually 1-2 varieties that are new as I am always looking for my ultimate variety. At the end of the year I rank my products per variety by taste, production, looks and issues. This tomato has been in my top 3 the last three years and it appears its here to stay. It usually ranks 1st for taste, 2nd or 3rd for production, 1st or 2nd for looks and issue resistance. I personally like this taste better than any heirloom and i live in zone 6.
