Adelaide Hybrid Carrot
Growing Adelaide Hybrid Carrot
Adelaide Hybrid Carrot is a premium Nantes-type baby carrot prized for its early maturity, crisp texture, and rich, sweet flavor. It produces smooth, cylindrical roots measuring about 3 to 4 inches long, with deep orange color and fine-grained flesh that stays tender as the roots mature. Strong, upright tops make harvesting easier, while its compact growth makes Adelaide an excellent choice for containers, raised beds, smaller gardens, and high-density plantings.
Sow ‘Adelaide’ directly in the garden about ¼ inch deep. Thin seedlings to 1 to 2 inches apart and grow in full sun. This cold-tolerant variety performs well in both spring and fall gardens and is also noted for good disease resistance.
Ready to harvest in about 50 days, begin checking the roots as they approach maturity and pull them once they reach your preferred size while they are crisp and tender.
Sweet, crunchy, and snackable, ‘Adelaide’ is excellent for fresh eating, salads, juicing, and enjoying straight from the garden.
