Wando Shelling Pea
Growing Wando Shelling Pea
‘Wando’ is an open-pollinated shell pea prized for its ability to handle warmer conditions and its sweet, plump peas. Deep green pods contain 7 to 8 flavorful peas, making this dependable variety especially useful for later pea plantings.
Sow ‘Wando’ directly in the garden about 1 inch deep and space plants 12 to 18 inches apart. Grow in full sun to partial shade. This cold-tolerant variety can also be planted somewhat later than many traditional peas.
Ready to harvest in about 68 days, pick pods regularly once they become plump and well filled while the peas remain tender.
Sweet, dependable, and versatile, ‘Wando’ is excellent for shelling, canning, freezing, and everyday cooking.
