Takara Shishito Hybrid Pepper
Growing Takara Shishito Hybrid Pepper
‘Takara Shishito’ is a hybrid East Asian pepper prized for its prolific yields, slender glossy fruits, and mostly mild flavor. Approximately 10% of the peppers may develop noticeable heat, adding an element of surprise to each harvest.
Start ‘Takara Shishito’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants 12 to 18 inches apart, with about 30 inches between rows. Grow in full sun. Compact plants are well suited to containers and smaller gardens and are noted for disease resistance.
Ready to harvest in about 60 days, pick the light green fruits regularly while they remain tender.
Tender, flavorful, and occasionally spicy, ‘Takara Shishito’ is excellent for grilling, sauces, drying, and everyday cooking.
