Sunburst Hybrid Summer Squash
Growing Sunburst Hybrid Summer Squash
‘Sunburst’ is an award-winning hybrid summer squash and 1985 All-America Selections Winner prized for its brilliant yellow color, buttery flavor, and dependable productivity. Round scalloped fruits develop tender flesh on compact, open plants that are easy to harvest.
Sow ‘Sunburst’ directly in the garden about 1 inch deep and space plants about 24 inches apart. Grow in full sun. Its compact habit makes this variety especially well suited to smaller gardens.
Ready to harvest in about 50 days, pick fruits young for the most tender texture and best flavor.
Tender, buttery, and colorful, ‘Sunburst’ is excellent for sautéing, roasting, stuffing, everyday cooking, ornamental edible displays, and storage.
