Sugar Snap Pea
Growing Sugar Snap Pea
‘Sugar Snap’ is the award-winning original snap pea and 1979 All-America Selections Winner prized for its exceptional sweetness and crisp, plump pods. Tall vines produce fat edible pods that are delicious straight from the garden or cooked.
Sow ‘Sugar Snap’ directly in the garden about 1 inch deep and space plants 12 to 18 inches apart. Grow in full sun to partial shade. This heat-tolerant variety develops tall vines that require support.
Ready to harvest in about 70 days, pick pods regularly once they become plump but remain crisp and tender.
Sweet, crunchy, and classic, ‘Sugar Snap’ is excellent for fresh eating, snacking, salads, stir-fries, cooking, and canning.
