Pick-A-Bushel Hybrid Cucumber
Growing Pick-A-Bushel Hybrid Cucumber
‘Pick-A-Bushel’ is an award-winning hybrid cucumber and 2014 All-America Selections Winner prized for its compact growth, sweet flavor, and excellent pickling quality. Semi-bush plants produce 18 to 20 medium-green, white-spined fruits with a firm, crisp texture. Its compact habit makes this variety especially well suited to containers and smaller gardens.
Start ‘Pick-A-Bushel’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly in the garden about ½ inch deep. Space plants 24 to 26 inches apart and grow in full sun. This variety is well suited to containers and small-space gardens and is also noted for good disease resistance.
Ready to harvest in about 50 days, begin picking the fruits at the recommended size for the sweetest flavor and firmest texture. Leave them on the vine a little longer for larger, crisp cucumbers that are excellent for fresh salads. Harvest regularly to encourage continued production.
Sweet, crisp, and versatile, ‘Pick-A-Bushel’ is excellent for pickling, salads, fresh slicing, and snacking.
