Growing Information

Growing Perfect Flame Hybrid Saladette Tomato

‘Perfect Flame’ is an early hybrid saladette tomato prized for its uniform fruits, bright orange color, and balanced sweet-tart flavor. Smooth, blemish-free tomatoes weigh about 4 ounces each and offer full tomato flavor in a versatile, medium-sized fruit.

Start ‘Perfect Flame’ indoors for transplanting and grow in full sun. This indeterminate variety was bred from the French heirloom ‘Flammé’ and Argentine heirloom ‘Peron,’ resulting in a stronger, more productive plant than either parent.

Ready to harvest in about 68 days, ‘Perfect Flame’ is the earliest-ripening variety in its series. Pick fruits once they have reached full size and developed their luminous orange color.

Sweet, tangy, and flavorful, ‘Perfect Flame’ is excellent for salads, slicing, fresh eating, sandwiches, and everyday kitchen use.

Best tasting, early and trouble free

Having moved from the Midwest to the southern Willamette Valley, I’ve struggled for years to produce a good tasting tomato here. I’ve tried countless varieties, some of which worked well 1 year and not another.
These plants have been consistently vigorous, trouble free, very productive, and most importantly, delicious, with a complex rich flavor on the sweet side. They aren’t big and flashy, but they ripen relatively early and have produced over a variety of weather conditions. I even cut them up whole and cook them down for a delicious tomato sauce.
