Pepitas Hybrid Pumpkin
Growing Pepitas Hybrid Pumpkin
‘Pepitas’ is an award-winning hybrid pumpkin and 2016 All-America Selections Winner prized for both its culinary uses and decorative appeal. Nearly round fruits contain pale yellow flesh along with unusual hulless, or “naked,” seeds that are especially easy to roast and eat.
Start ‘Pepitas’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about 1 inch deep, space plants 8 to 12 inches apart, and grow in full sun. This heat-tolerant variety is also noted for disease resistance.
Ready to harvest in about 85 days, pick fruits once they have reached full maturity before removing and roasting the seeds.
Useful, flavorful, and distinctive, ‘Pepitas’ is excellent for pies, canning, roasting seeds, everyday cooking, and seasonal displays.
