Growing Information

Growing Patio Baby Hybrid Eggplant

‘Patio Baby’ is an award-winning hybrid eggplant and 2014 All-America Selections Winner prized for its extra-early maturity, compact growth, and beautiful appearance. Small plants produce lovely lavender blooms followed by abundant crops of shiny, purplish-black, oval fruits throughout the season. Its tidy growth habit makes this variety especially well suited to patio containers and smaller gardens.

Start ‘Patio Baby’ indoors for transplanting about ¼ inch deep. Space plants 18 to 22 inches apart and grow in full sun. This compact variety performs especially well in containers and limited-space gardens.

Ready to harvest in about 45 days, begin picking the fruits once they reach their mature size and develop a glossy purplish-black color. Harvest regularly while the fruits are still firm and tender for the best eating quality.

Tender, flavorful, and versatile, ‘Patio Baby’ is excellent for fresh cooking, salads, roasting, sautéing, and everyday kitchen use.

These are the cutiest eggplant ever. I planted them in pots and they grew amazing, and they taste amazing. At first I didn't know how to cook them cause they are so little, but all I do is slice with oil, onion and garlic baked in oven for approx 25 minutes and ohhh so good.

First Time Customer, No Complaints!

First time ordering from Seeds N Such and I’m really impressed. I picked up the Patio Baby Hybrid Eggplant seeds when they were offering free shipping, and it was definitely worth it. Every seed I’ve planted so far has germinated, and the seedlings are looking strong and healthy. No complaints at all—great experience from start to finish, and I’ll likely be ordering again.
