Growing Information

Growing Ozark Giant Pepper

‘Ozark Giant’ is an heirloom sweet pepper prized for its large size, superior flavor, and thick, crisp flesh. Slightly elongated, blocky fruits grow larger than ‘California Wonder’ and are produced abundantly on heavily foliaged plants.

Start ‘Ozark Giant’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ¼ to ½ inch deep, space plants 18 to 24 inches apart, and grow in full sun. This heat-tolerant variety benefits from support once plants become loaded with their large fruits.

Ready to harvest in about 85 days, pick peppers once they reach their mature size and preferred color stage.

Large, crisp, and flavorful, ‘Ozark Giant’ is excellent for stuffing, fresh eating, grilling, slicing, and everyday cooking.

Really Big Peppers

I have tried for years with little success here in So. Cal. to grow big bell peppers. I purchased these seeds and finally have gotten some good size peppers off of only 3 plants that I tucked into the back of my raised bed. The plants are very large— over 5 ft tall. Planted them at end of May, and peppers are just turning red by early October–very slow even after regular fertilization with liquid fruit & bloom. Overall very pleased and will definitely grow again.

No luck thi syeyar

these seeds germinated then died off one by one. I used Jiffy seed mix as I do every year to start them but they dampen off. Better luck next year I guess
