Growing Information

Growing Lakeside Hybrid Spinach

‘Lakeside’ is a baby-leaf spinach prized for its outstanding flavor, uniformity, and disease resistance. Thick, fleshy, dark green leaves have a smooth round-to-oval shape and an upright habit that makes harvesting easy. Flavor is mild with just a touch of tang.

Sow ‘Lakeside’ directly in the garden about ½ inch deep and space plants 2 to 4 inches apart. Grow in full sun. This variety is noted for strong disease resistance.

Ready to harvest in about 60 days, pick leaves at the size you prefer, harvesting younger growth for tender baby greens.

Mild, substantial, and flavorful, ‘Lakeside’ is excellent for fresh eating, salads, sautéing, and everyday cooking.

Best spinach I have grown

Pacific Northwest here right on the ocean - I grow this in a 2ft pot along with Kale and Miners Lettuce and move it around my property to keep it in the sun during the low sun angle part of our winter. It grows all winter here, matures fast, and provides a great ongoing harvest. It has germinated better for me than most other varieties I have tried.
