Growing King of the North Bell Pepper

‘King of the North’ is an open-pollinated bell pepper prized for its ability to perform in cooler temperatures and shorter growing seasons. Large, blocky, thick-walled fruits mature from deep green to bright red and provide excellent quality for northern gardeners.

Start ‘King of the North’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep, space plants 24 to 36 inches apart, and grow in full sun. This variety is heat tolerant and also noted for good disease resistance.

Ready to harvest in about 68 days, pick fruits green or allow them to mature to bright red.

Large, thick walled, and versatile, ‘King of the North’ is excellent for stuffing, fresh eating, slicing, and everyday cooking.

No germ

None of these pepper seeds germinated although everything else around it did with the same growing conditions, even my jalepenos. Not sure what happened but we will not have any bell peppers in the garden this year.

Reliable pepper for a mediocre gardener

My garden is in north central Wisconsin. It is not a fancy garden. I plant King of the North Peppers every year because they produce nice peppers with average conditions and no fussing about.
