Genuwine Hybrid Tomato

Good flavor but not as prolific as other similar sized tomatoes for this Monterey Bay, zone 9b gardner.

PRODUCTIVE & FLAVORFUL BUT...

Im experimenting to see what tomatoes grow well in my area. So I grow 2 or 3 plants of several varieties. Tried Genuwine for the 1st time this season (SC zone 8a 2023) Grew 6' tall and bushy. Produced an abundance of large odd shaped, tomatoes. Many with Cat Faces! The tomatoes tasted wonderful but because of their odd shape didnt make great slices. Although I mulched, sprayed with an organic anti fungal and trimmed the lower branch's. The plants succumbed to a wilt disease that spread very quickly despite my efforts. Fortunately I was still able to pick many large tomatoes from just two plants. I haven't decided whether to grow them again next yr. Depends on how the other varieties do. So far Summer Pick is a big Winner for my area. Productive, Large, Deep Red, Firm, Solid interiors and a beautiful looking tomato. They also taste terrific.

Strong traditional tomato flavor!

Just harvested my first Genuwine tomato from seeds by Seeds 'N Such. It is a beautiful, but oddly shaped tomato. The top is concave around the stem and the body is thin from top to bottom, which doesn't allow for many cross slices. However, I couldn't wait to try it and had it for breakfast. It has a very strong and traditional flavor, and from my garden is a bit on the acidic side. I wouldn't put it above Cherokee Purple, but it is very high on my taste preference and the plants are performing well in the heat and humidity of my mid-south garden. Delicious. If you like the flavor of traditional red tomatoes it can't be beat.

Excellent tomato for hotter climates

Genuwine is a superbly flavored tomato and has produced for me all summer long here in Southern California, even when temperatures soared over 100+. To prevent sunscald, I sacked the fruits on the vine with old socks, but productivity continued with only moderate stalling of fruit set. And now that fall temperatures have begun, fruit set has ramped up considerably again. Plants are vigorous, producing medium sized fruits predominantly that rarely crack. This variety is a definite repeater... as is last years heirloom marriage trial of Cherokee Carbon. Both excellent !
