Crimson Sweet Watermelon
Growing Crimson Sweet Watermelon
‘Crimson’ is an open-pollinated watermelon prized for its all-purpose performance, exceptional sweetness, and fine-textured flesh. Large, blocky-round fruits have light green rinds striped with dark green and contain firm, juicy, bright red flesh with very few small seeds.
Sow ‘Crimson’ directly in the garden about ½ to 1 inch deep, space plants about 3 feet apart, and grow in full sun. For best sowing, orient each seed with the pointed end facing down. This heat-tolerant variety is also noted for good disease resistance. When sowing, place the pointed end of the seed down.
Ready to harvest in about 90 days, pick fruits once they reach full maturity and their bright red interior develops peak sweetness.
Juicy, firm, and remarkably sweet, ‘Crimson’ is excellent for fresh eating.
Disease Notice: Watermelon Fruit Blotch is a bacterial disease that has caused severe damage to commercial crops in the southern USA. All our seed is screened by our suppliers for this disease before we ship to you.
