Growing Information

Growing Corentine Pickling Hybrid Cucumber

‘Corentine’ is an extra-early European gherkin-type cucumber prized for its crisp texture, mild flavor, and dependable production. An improved replacement for ‘Cool Breeze,’ it produces dark green, short-spined fruits that are both burpless and nearly seedless. As a parthenocarpic variety, ‘Corentine’ can set fruit without cross-pollination, while exceptional disease resistance adds to its reliable garden performance. :chatgpt-content-reference{index="0"}

Start ‘Corentine’ indoors or sow directly in the garden about ½ inch deep. Space plants about 12 inches apart and grow in full sun. Vines typically reach 3 to 5 feet long and perform best in warm, fertile soil with consistent moisture.

Ready to harvest in about 45 days, begin picking the 4- to 6-inch fruits while they are still firm, crisp, and tender. Harvest regularly to encourage continued production and maintain the best texture and flavor.

Crisp, mild, and versatile, ‘Corentine’ is excellent for pickling, fresh eating, salads, and snacking.

My fave!

These cukes are the best! Great for pickling, slicing, eating fresh, you name it.

Best baby pickles!

My family loves baby dill pickles. The vines are loaded and just keep going. These are best for crunchy pickles and the only pickling cucumbers I grow.

Hands down the best cukes I have ever planted.

Planted 3 years. disease resistant, cuke machines. Solid. Delicious to eat in whatever way you would like. Brush spines off with paper towel. Have supplied my entire neighborhood with these little beauties which are planted in 3 large pots. Will probably always be planting these. Highly recommend.

Best Pickling Cukes

I've grown a dozen different pickling cukes the last decade, my wife is a champ at preserving our garden bounty. These Corentine cukes make the crispiest pickles. Of course, harvest early and often -- did I mention very productive? I'll still grow some Homemade Pickles and Delikatesse and even Lemon Cukes (make fabulous Fridge Pickles, without canning). Hands down Corentines are the best.

Best crunchy cukes!

In hot humid Georgia, these cucumbers were the first to produce, set on the most cukes, and were the last to quit bearing. Rub them under water to clean, then slice snd est.
