Growing Bull Nose Heirloom Bell Pepper
‘Bull Nose’ is an heirloom pepper prized for its crisp fruits, historic character, and dependable production. One of the early medium-to-full-size bell types grown in the United States, this distinctive crinkled-nose pepper was historically grown at Monticello.
Start ‘Bull Nose’ indoors for transplanting or sow directly where conditions allow. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep and space plants 24 to 36 inches apart. Grow in full sun. This heat-tolerant variety performs well through warm summer conditions.
Ready to harvest in about 80 days, pick fruits once they reach the mature size and color you prefer.
Crisp, productive, and historic, ‘Bull Nose’ is excellent for fresh eating, stuffing, sautéing, and everyday cooking.
