Growing Information

Growing Beefmaster Hybrid Beefsteak Tomato

‘Beefmaster’ is a hybrid beefsteak tomato prized for its enormous size, dense meaty flesh, and rich classic tomato flavor. Hefty fruits can approach 2 pounds under good growing conditions, with crack-resistant skin and relatively few watery pockets.

Start ‘Beefmaster’ indoors for transplanting. Plant seeds about ¼ inch deep, space plants 24 to 36 inches apart, and grow in full sun. This variety is noted for good disease resistance.

Ready to harvest in about 80 days, pick the large fruits once they reach full size and develop their mature color.

Meaty, rich, and substantial, ‘Beefmaster’ is excellent for thick slices, sandwiches, salads, and fresh summer plates.

Monster Tomatoes

2023 was my second year planting these. They had good yields and the tomatoes were some of the largest even with near drought conditions. Many of the tomatoes exceeded the one pound mark and some were close to two pounds. These are now a staple in the garden.
