Growing Information

Growing Ambrosia Hybrid Cantaloupe

‘Ambrosia’ is a hybrid cantaloupe prized for its exceptionally sweet flavor, attractive peach-colored flesh, and dependable garden performance. Round fruits develop strong netting and light sutures, combining excellent eating quality with the uniform appearance valued by both home gardeners and market growers.

Sow ‘Ambrosia’ directly in the garden about ¼ inch deep and space plants about 18 inches apart. Grow in full sun. This variety is also noted for good disease resistance.

Ready to harvest in about 86 days, begin checking fruits as they reach full size and develop their mature color, fragrance, and eating quality.

Sweet, juicy, and aromatic, ‘Ambrosia’ is excellent for fresh eating, fruit salads, breakfast plates, and summer desserts.

Ambrosia Cantaloupe

A friend gave me a cantaloupe to eat years ago, the Ambrosia. I didn’t like cantaloupe that much to be honest. It became a regular melon i grow every year now. Nothing compares to its taste, sweet and juicy, easy to grow with a little mushroom compost. All the seeds I purchased here have been viable.

Sweet, juicy, and prolific!

Plant these in a nice sunny place and stand back! Great producers of large melons all through the long hot summer with temperatures up to 115 degrees.
