Nothing is more frustrating than leaving town for vacation with countless, just ripening tomatoes still on the vine. But our new "Valley Cat Hybrid Tomato" has a naturally occurring gene that extends the growing season by an extra two weeks - enough time to return home and harvest now ripened but still firm, delicious fruits! A similar problem occurs at the end of the season when a bountiful harvest is simply more than can be canned or sauced at one time. What do you do with the excess? If you've grown "Burpee's Long Keeper," you can store these tomatoes for six to twelve weeks after harvest! Just be sure that the fruits stay about 65 degrees and they don't touch each other while in storage.
