Growing Suyo Long Heirloom Burpless Cucumber

‘Suyo Long’ is a distinctive open-pollinated Chinese cucumber prized for its exceptionally long fruits, crisp texture, and sweet, mild flavor. The ribbed, burpless cucumbers stay flavorful even in hot or challenging conditions, making this variety especially well suited to warm climates and Southern gardens.

Sow ‘Suyo Long’ directly in the garden about ½ inch deep. Space plants about 3 inches apart and grow in full sun. This heat-tolerant variety is also noted for good disease resistance. The naturally curved and twisted fruits can be encouraged to grow straighter by training the vines on a trellis.

Ready to harvest in about 61 days, begin picking the fruits once they reach a usable size while they are still firm, crisp, and tender. Harvest regularly to encourage continued production and maintain the best texture and flavor.

Sweet, crisp, and refreshing, ‘Suyo Long’ is excellent for fresh eating, slicing, salads, and snacking.

Looks promising

I started three plants. One didn't thrive; the other two are six to eight inches tall and possibly budding. They are straight up by themselves for now so no support needed for now.

We Can Finally Grow Cucumbers

We have almost no bees where we live so growing cucumbers never works good for us. These are producing copious amounts of large cucumbers here in June. The weather is turning hotter(90ish) and it will get hotter in July and August so I can't review hot weather tolerance yet but with temps in 80's these grow very well and produce abundantly. They grow big and taste great. Ours look nothing like the picture as most of them are smooth and straight.
